What is Geologically Stored Carbon (GSC)? 

Geologically stored carbon is a carbon removal method that offers a long-term solution to combat climate change. The GSC approach involves capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or industrial sources and securely storing it deep underground in geological formations.


 The GSC Process:


1. Carbon Capture: Carbon dioxide is captured from industrial processes or directly from the air using advanced technologies.

2. Compression and Transportation: The captured CO₂  is compressed into a liquid state or dissolved into pressurized water and transported to suitable storage sites.

3. Injection: Liquefied or water-dissolved CO₂ is injected into deep geological formations, such as depleted oil and gas reservoirs, saline aquifers or mafic and ultramafic formations.

4. Permanent Storage: The injected CO₂  is trapped within porous rock formations, where it remains safely stored for 1000+ years.
